vatican tickets

Can anyone please steer us in the right direction. We want to see both The Sistine Chapel and the Basilica on our upcoming visit to Rome in October. We have been advised that we can purchase tickets direct from the vaticans own site rather than a third party reseller agency. However, it seems that you have to choose either Vatican/Sistine or Vatican/basilica, but not all three for one ticket (even if it costs more) can anyone clarify if there is way to purchase one ticket to access all three areas? we realize that they all take some time to see but is it really a two day arrangement? also we contacted the Scavi office to the see the tomb but they said they cannot accommodate any more people during our dates, is there any other way to get access to the Scavi?
thanks in advance....

The tours all include the Sistine chapel, even the one that includes the basilica. If you read the description you will see that the tour does, indeed, include the chapel.

Vatican museums and St. Peter' basilica:
The tour follows an itinerary which includes:the Pio Clementino Museum, Upper Galleries, the Raphael Rooms, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's basilica

Once the scavi tour is sold out there is nothing you can do. It has very limited space available and not everyone requesting a tour gets on one.

Just backing up Donna here: the Sistine is IN the Vatican Museums so if you book a museum/basilica combo tour, you see the museums, the Sistine and the church.

Just to clarify one thing – do you want to take a guided tour, or simply buy entrance tickets (which is what your message says)? The replies above relate to guided tours. If you simply want to buy tickets, get the Vatican Museums ticket and you simply enter the Sistine Chapel when you get to it. (But do reserve a specific entrance time to the museums, since the lines can be very long.) No ticket is required to enter the Basilica, although there are tickets for things like the elevator to the roof (which you can buy when you get there).

Sherry, I understand what you're saying but when you click on the "admission tickets" link it doesn't give you the choice of Vatican museums/Sistine chapel or Vatican museums/St Peter's basilica. It only offers entry tickets to the museums or entry tickets with lunch. This is why I've assumed that the OP is looking at a tour. Hopefully the OP will get back to us to explain what, exactly she is looking for.
