I'm considering buying tickets for Vatican Museum and Basilica online to avoid waiting in line. I will be in Rome starting Sunday, September 30. Does anyone
have advice about whether to buy these tickets online or not? Also, I'm thinking the Roma Pass does not cover the Vatican. True?
http://biglietteriamusei.vatican.va/musei/tickets/do Tickets are not refundable. But if you go for sure you save time.
If you plan on visiting the museums in the morning you should purchase entry tickets to avoid the lines. The basilica is free and doesn't require a ticket. You must go through security to enter both the basilica and the museums. The Vatican museums are not open on Sundays with the exception of the last of the month when they are free. They are extremely crowded on free Sundays, so much so that you couldn't pay me enough to go then. I would choose another day if this was your plan. The romapass is not valid for anything at the Vatican. Donna
Thanks for the feedback! Ciao!
The easy way to remember about the Roma Pass in Vatican City is that Rome is in Italy and the Vatican is in Vatican City, a completely different city and country. The Roma Pass is valid only in Rome.
The Roma Pass does not cover any sights under the direction of the Vatican. This includes the Vatican Museums, Catholic churches, and catacombs.
Grazie mille for the helpful information. We're on our way! Ciao!
