Does anyone know if the shortcut "tour group" exit from the Sistine Chapel into St. Peter"s is approved for use if you are on one of the tours purchased on the Vatican website. Or is it only for the big outside tour companies?
If you're moving with a group led by a guide, you use that shortcut.
Thanks so much
Brian we've used the "tour group" exit many times with no problem. It saves a long walk around to St Peter's.
Yes, tours booked through the vatican website can use the tour door. If not on a tour don't be surprised if you are stopped from using it as the guards are more strict and are checking people as they try to use it. If you haven't paid for a tour you shouldn't use the door anyway but if you try you will probably be stopped. Donna
Brian We've used that door at the end of the tour purchased on the Vatican Website several times with no problem. Our guide told us to show them the ticket if questioned--- which has never happened. You could ask your guide or the guard to be sure.
Thanks for the perspective. We'll be booking through the Vatican website and just wanted to make sure.
Your tour guide will dump you at the entrance to the Sistine Chapel and from there is the exit to St. Peters.
Any tours of the museums that are booked directly with the Vatican allows you to use the bypass door. Just show them your ticket when they ask. Your tour does not need to include the basilica Donna
This is exactly the question that I had too. Thank you to all that replied. I was curious to know if you did a tour that was just the Museum and Sistine Chapel or did you do the tour that included the Basilica. If just the museum tour, can you still use the shortcut? Thanks!
