I am looking for passes to skip the line at the Vatican Museums/Sistine Chapel for July 1. On-line only May and June come up. When will July come up for reservations? I thought it was supposed to be 60 days out. I'm getting nervous that tickets will all be sold to tour groups. Vic
Tickets for July have not been released yet. They are released "about" 60 days out-give or take a few. Just keep checking. There is no pass that you can get but buying tickets or booking a tour online will allow you to bypass the lines. http://biglietteriamusei.vatican.va/musei/tickets/do?weblang=en&do Donna
Good Afternoon Vic, Vatican release "reservation passes" about 60 days out, but things have changed a a bit. The vatican no longer accepts credit cards, so all your pass does is keep your spot, you will have to produce this voucher and pay in cash at the entrance to the museum. It's a pain i know but it's their new somewhat temporary policy. i got mine here:

Thanks for the reply Donna. Does the site usually become live at a certain time of day, for example, 9:00 a.m. Vatican time? I have been getting up at 2:00 every night hoping not to miss the first few hours of availability. If I knew what time they open, I might get more sleep. Vic
I don't think you need to worry about getting up early. They sell thousands of tickets for each time slot. I would just check everyday to see if they've opened up the date you need. They haven't even opened up the dates that I need for my upcoming trip. I just check on a daily basis and will book as soon as they become available. You won't be able to actually buy them online (big trouble with their credit card system) but you will get a confirmation which you take with you in order to bypass the lines and pick up the actual tickets. I wouldn't use a reseller but would go through the official site for the best prices. Donna
What site do you go to to reserve tickets? Do you have to pay ahead of time?
Katie, the official site to book the Vatican museums is here: http://biglietteriamusei.vatican.va/musei/tickets/do?weblang=en&do You can only make the reservation online, you pay once you get there. The reservation allows you to bypass the outside lines. Donna
