Vatican on Sunday

I am trying to determine if Vatican is open to public on Sundays. I assume you can enter St. Peter's Basilica at minimum. Does new pope make appearance still? I will only be in Rome Sunday, June 2. Thank you for any information.

The Vatican is open but the museums are closed. You can visit the basilica if you wish. Donna

Provided the Pope is in town, he should pray the Angelus midday on Sunday.

Frank, Even if you are not Catholic, attending a Mass is a cultural as well as spiritual experience. If you wish to participate, print out a copy of the readings and responses in English or put it on an electronic device before you go. They can be found at usccb.org/bible/readings. The Mass readings are the same each day everywhere in the world, with rare exeptions. It makes the experience even more memorable if you can participate in your own language. Mass times for Sundays from the Vatican website: 9, 10.30, 11.30, 12.15, 13, 16, 17.30

Thank you Lise for the very nice reply. I will definitely attend one of the mass times you provided.
