Hello all,
Can one enter the Vatican Musuem, leave for a bit and re-enter the museum with the same ticket?
Thanks,
Randi

Don't know the answer to that, but also wonder why you would want to do that? The museum will lead you on a path to the Sistine Chapel...past bookstores, toilets, gift shops and cafeterias. Once you get on the path you really don't want to turn back.
No, one entry per ticket. Otherwise some unscrupulous person could hand their ticket off to someone else.
Thank you! I'm not sure how the Vatican Museum compares to the Louvre, but the Louvre was a little overwhelming for me. Was wondering if my husband and I would have the option of coming and going like we did at the Louvre (we had the Paris Museum Pass, which allowed us to come and go).
It would be nice to have a pass, I agree. If you need a break, there is a very nice outdoor cafe in the courtyard for a light lunch. Avoid the pizza in the downstairs cafeteria. You have been warned.
Zoe is. Correct, once you leave the museums you cannot re-enter on the same ticket.

And the OP is correct that the Louvre does allow re-entry.
The Vatican Museum might not be quite as big as the Louvre but it's in the same category in the sense that it's so large that you can't see it all in one day. You have to prioritize and see the areas first that are of the most interest to you--that way if you experience museum burn-out, you've seen the things that were most important to you.
Thank you all! We will plan accordingly and have a game plan before we arrive. And Zoe, we will take your word and avoid the pizza :)
We were in Rome on a weekday in Nov (thought lines wouldn't be an issue), got there mid-morning, and the line was so long that we made the decision to skip it. I suggest you plan on getting in line an hour before the doors open.
Geochuck, without tickets you need to be in line about 2 hours before you wish to enter, even early in the morning. there is no need to wait in line when you can purchase entry tickets online that allow you to bypass the ticket lines and go directly inside.

Wish I knew that!!
