Vatican Museums Tour: Early or Late?

Just did the Friday evening tour at the Vatican. Book in advance and if you would like to have the Sistine Chapel to yourself (literally) gat on line with your reservation at 6:45 and when the museum opens bypass everything and go to the Sistine chapel as we did. There may have been as many as 20 people there and it did not get crowded the entire time we where there. Then we back tracked to see what we were interested in.

Something else you might also consider is booking the Colesseum underground and third floor tour. It is a nightmare to book but worth it

You can book entry tickets for Friday night at the Vatican museums and go at your own pace. This will allow you to photograph what you wish. Be aware there are no photos allowed inside the Sistine Chapel.

If you take an early entry tour you must stay with the guide, no extra time at specific exhibits.

including Friday in the evening.

I would definitely do Friday night if you have that available!

Has anybody used the early morning entrance with just a ticket through Vatican museums, rather than with a guided tour?

Do you mean the Breakfast at the museums option? You have breakfast first and then are released into the museums at about 8am.
