Am doing the RS Heart of Italy tour coming up. One tour day is scheduled for the Vatican Museums/Sistine Chapel/St Peter's and the itinerary says "you'll have the rest of the day" to explore the church and Vatican city after the tour portion. I want to book a Vatican Necropolis tour on my own which is available at 2:30pm. Has anyone done the RS tour and do you think I would be ok timewise? I sent an email to RS tours to get more specific itinerary info, but they are probably swamped, so if anyone has insight to share, I would appreciate it.

Not been on that Tour, but did the Best of Italy 17 day tour, and the day for the Vatican Museum finished the guided tour portion around Noon. Assuming the various tours execute the same way for the Vatican Museum day, you should have plenty of time to get to the 230PM tour. With fitting in lunch, you would be left to see the main Basilica after doing the Necropolis tour.

Thanks Joe. I also heard back from the RS tour folks and they confirmed this plan will work. Wow -wasn't expecting such a quick reply. Cool! Excited!
