Looking for a tour guide for the Vatican Museum for a group around 16 people at a decent price (we are on a budget). We had a group a couple years ago with a guide that was so boring. Any suggestions?
Forgot to add - would it be worth it to just get a Vatican Muesum tour guide or other guide?
You can book a group tour directly through the vatican museums. They also have private tours of the vatican museums. This would be just a little more than a group tour so you might want to check out that option. ***http://biglietteriamusei.vatican.va/musei/tickets/do?weblang=en&do**
Just got back from Rome and we used an awesome guide. We went through www.walksofitaly.com
Our guide was Chris and he was so informative and intersting. There are different tours to choose from. We did the Pristine Sistine. You enter the Sistine Chapel an hour before the public. You go through the vatican and on to St. Peters.
Good Luck
Did the Pristine Sistine this morning with Walks in Italy and it was fabulous! We were among only about 40 people in the Chapel when we arrived. Well run, great info, if you can drag yourself out to a 0745 meeting time! That said, for 16 people on a per person basis, it is going to be pricey for 16 people. Check with Francesca Caruso to see if she does the Vatican. She charges by the hour, which is good for a group. We took a tour of Ancient Rome with her and iot was very eye-opening!
I would avoid the tour given by The Vatican. I've had good and bad experiences. Overall, however, it comes across as a "forced march" at a very quick pace through only about 1/4 of the Vatican Museum and then you are unceremoniously dumped at the entrance to the Sistine Chapel. Book with a private tour company. I have used Context for other Rome tours in the past and they are exceptional. However, they usually only take groups no larger than 6 people and are rather pricey. Perhaps they might arrange a special tour and price for such a group as yours.
The Vatican Museum has world-class art. Unless you are very limited for time &/or only want to visit the Sistine Chapel, take your time and visit the galleries. You could easily spend a couple of hours meandering thru the museum on your way to the chapel (capella).
