Anyone has recommendations for tour company/guide for a small group tour of Vatican museum before it opens for public. Thank you in advance.
We used Walks of Italy.
We used Walks of Italy's Pristine Sistine tour, but many guides freelance for a few of the top companies (The Tour Guy has a comparable tour, public or private). Just make sure your tour has a good description so you know what you're getting (and don't buy through viator, a middleman). Our tour got us into the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica with the short cut (special exit from Sistine to St. Peters, enter before open to the public so you can actually stop at certain exhibits), but it's 7 km of walking over 4 hours with no break, and I don't know if my older in-laws will be able to do that when we go back next year. We had to wake up so early we missed our hotel breakfast, and the dinky croissant we ate at 6 am evaporated quickly. We were also really thirsty b/c you can't bring in water. By 11 am we were pretty dehydrated and ready to crush some Roman grub. ;-)
