I tried reserving tickets at: http://mv.vatican.va/ I go all the way through with dates and timings, but get a message saying "not authorized" in the final step after I enter the credit card number. Tried three different Master/Visa cards. Don't think this has anything to do with the credit cards. Any experiences? Thanks,
Vikram
Don't think this has anything to do with the credit cards. So you have notified all of the credit cards that you were making an international - Vatican City and Italy - purchase?
No..... I will try that. Thanks,
Vikram
I tried four times. The fourth time after I called my credit card and told them to authorize Vatican museums. They also said they did not receive any request for authorization for the previous tries. I think the website has problems.
Maybe a tour? We did Walks of Italy for the Vatican and were so happy to have done so. Our group tour ended up just being our family of 4. The guide got us past the line and knew exactly how to navigate the museum. We spent half a day there with him, but having an experienced guide really helped us to understand so much more about the history and key artifacts than we could ever have absorbed on our own. Highly recommend having a guide.
Thank you, Barb. For the advice. Unfortunately (or fortunately), I just successfully posted the transaction for reserving tickets (no guided tour). The mistake was during the credit card process, if you click on the Master card logo, the fields to fill in the information come up and you can proceed with filling in credit card details, but the transaction will fail. You HAVE to check the radio button next to the Master card (or Visa). I got it right the 5th time. I guess I have to read up quite a bit to educate the family. Vikram
