Vatican Museum in November

Is the general consensus that a reservation is a waste of money for the Vatican Museum in late November on a weekday?

Not if you are going before 1pm or so. The mornings are always crowded so if you plan on visiting first thing I would recommend pre-purchasing entry tickets. If you wish to go in the afternoon I wouldn't bother. Most of the time you'll find little to no line in the afternoons. Donna

Have not been to Rome in November before so don't know how lines would be but just returned this past Monday. I know I am happy we had reservations for our visit on Tues., Oct. 18. We had an entry time for 9 a.m. and the line was incredibly long at that time. We were able to just stroll right up to the door. As we were bypassing the line, people were asking us how we got our tkts. Otherwise have only been there in the summer months of June and July and that was before the Vatican let you make reservations. Then we arrived right when they opened and walked right in. I would not count on getting right in if you arrive in the a.m. Like another poster stated if going in afternoon then it prob. would not be a problem. Buon Viaggio!
