Vatican Museum during Holy Week

We will be in Rome April 13-24. We arrive on Palm Sunday and stay until the Thursday after Easter, which just happens to be a few days before one Canonization Mass of Pope John Paul II and Pope John XXIII. I expect all of Rome to be flooded with millions of pilgrims (like myself) as my travel dates fall around two of the most beloved events on the Vatican calendar this year.
So, with that full profession of my own craziness aside, if you had to pick a day to book a tour (probably private, maybe small group depending on availability) to tour the Vatican Museum, what day would be best? What day would be worst?
Thanks!

We were there Easter weekend two years ago. Rome was busy, but no where were millions of people there.

I'd just suggest you purchase your tickets to get into the Vatican Museum online to avoid a 4 abreast 1/4 mile long line. You'll get a reservation time to show up. I suggest late in the day. I'd suggest going to the Vatican first full day you're in town.

Remember that the day after Easter is also a national holiday.

My best suggestion is to quickly learn how to read maps and use public transportation. The buses can get you all over town quickly and efficiently, and they're much easier than walking from point A to point B.

Many people recommend a mid- to late-afternoon entry time, but I would spring for a 7:30am semi-private tour (maximum 7 or so people). I will never again go to the Vatican Museums during regular hours - the melee that the Sistine Chapel has become is extremely disheartening.

I have heard Walks of Italy offers a great semi private tour. What company did you use? Any other recommendations welcome:)
