Do I need to purchase a combo ticket for Vatican museum and Sistine if I only want to see Sistine? Is Sistine part of museum? Thanks
The only way into the Sistine is through the museum. It is well worth it!
It's a long walk through the museum to get to the Sistine Chapel, but there's so much worth seeing. After you pass through the map and tapestry halls, there's a shortcut to the chapel, so you can cut out some of the museum that way. You'd be missing the Raphael Rooms, though.
If I remember correctly, we booked a ticket very early in the morning before the museum officially opened. That way we were able to be in the Sistine Chapel before it was a total mob scene.
may i ask where you booked yourticket?
Official ticketing website for the Vatican:
https://m.museivaticani.va/content/museivaticani-mobile/en.html
General-entry tickets go on sale 60 days in advance - at midnight Rome time - and they are said to be selling out VERY quickly once becoming available.
I believe we booked at the official website. As mentioned they are selling out quickly, so keep an eye on the calendar.
