Vatican lines in Rome

Hi All!

I'm planning to visit Italy and Rome in June and plan to reserve thru the Vatican Official Web site my tickets for Vatican's Museum.

The Web site does not provide too much information about where picking the tickets. I suppose it is the location on Viale Vatican street where there is 2 doors (from what I saw with Googles Street View). Is this exact?

Also, I heard that there is a very long line if you don't have tickets but if you have a reserved ticket, do someone know if there is a second line for reserved ticket and if that line is also long? My real question is: even if I've got reserved ticket, do I have be there 45mn or ... before the reservation time? 12:00 in my case.

André, go to the Vatican museum main entrance on Viale Vatican.
Go straight in,no line up for you, after security, up a few stairs
there is a guided tour waiting area. Ask at the information
booth if you can't find it, they will show you where( that is what
we did). We had a guided tour, do you have tickets only
or a guided tour of the museum? We arrived 30 min in advance
and it was more than enough time. You will print your tickets at home.
If you will not take the guided tour I think you just start your visit
after security.

Hello Martine!

I plan to reserve the Vatican Guided Tours for Individuals ' Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel'. So if I arrive 20mn before it should be fine!!

It sounds like you already have your time scheduled but my experience has been the later you go the less crowded it will be. As a matter of fact, it is about 60% less crowded the closer you get to closing time. Don't be afraid of the long line as you can give your name to the security person and he/she will direct you inside to pick up your tickets. Enjoy!

You will go to the doors and notice a line coming out of the doors to the left and a guard on the right. Go to him and show him your reservations or pre-purchase tickets. He will let you in at the doors. You will then join the line to go through security (about 5 minutes) then go to the counter to pick up your tickets or join your tour. If your reservation is for 12 you should get there no later than 15 minutes prior. If you are late they can make you wait in the regular line.
