Vatican Green Pass requirement

We are a family of 4 traveling to Rome/Vatican in June. Vatican still has a mandatory green pass requirement https://m.museivaticani.va/content/museivaticani-mobile/en.html. We are traveling with young kids between 6-9 years old who aren't vaccinated. They are accepting valid rapid test within 48 hours of the visit. Has anyone taken that and has it worked to enter the Vatican?

How much do these tests cost and which place in Rome do you recommend to do these tests? How long does it take for the results? We are staying near the Spanish Steps.

Thanks!

Most pharmacies do testing
Use Google maps and search for one near your lodgings or ask your host or hotel
Usually no appointment needed
22 euros takes about 20 min for results

Why not just get the kids vaccinated, you have time
CDC recommends

The unvaccinated kids will need to test before entering Italy as well

You can order BinaxNow home test kit with eMED tele-health video service included here (they have two types; make sure to order the travel version with tele-health video service):
https://www.emed.com/airline-travel

It's $150 for six packs (one test per pack) and additional $30 for shipping. You might also want to consider creating individual Navica account (for each of you); you can read about the detail here:
https://www.abbott.com/BinaxNOW-Tests-NAVICA-App/NAVICA-FAQ.html

If you do use the BinaxNow home test kit; DO NOT open package until instructed by the eMED video guide or it will be invalid.

You can also get the ART test at authorized local pharmacy in Rome. Open Google Maps and search for 'Covid testing Rome Italy') to locate the Covid test sites and pharmacies; or simply click below:

I was there today/tonight, went to Scavi, St Peters and a tour of the Vatican Museums, no 'green pass' was checked. Just needed to wear a mask indoors.

@Captain Obvious
That's interesting! Italy lifted its "Green Pass" requirement for museums since May 1, Vatican Museum still requires it and FFP2 face mask (at least according to its website). But then they didn't check yours; this is confusing!

Even in the thick of Covid, there were exemptions for children under a certain age. The info you linked makes no mention of ages, while they have dropped the age for vaccines to 5 years, it seems they should have some age specific information, as well as the requirement for boosters.

As others said though, for those ages of children, and hauling them around the globe, a vaccination is able to be done now, and prudent.

We just went to the Vatican Museums and St Peter's last week and, while we had our passports and CDC cards with us, they were never asked for or checked. Just had to wear an FFP2 mask (or equivalent) inside.

We were in the Vatican museum 10 days ago and were not asked for our Green Pass. I asked our guide about this and he replied that "yes, it is still officially required but it is almost never checked by the staff."

We had the same experience 12 days ago. Masks were required and all visitors went through security but no cards were requested.
