So while in Rome, we have to option of visiting the Vatican on either a Saturday or a Monday. Is there an advantage to going on a certain day? Also, does it make sense to purchase tickets in advance via their website (I think it's 20 euros a person) and then pick them up there in the reservation line? And is the best time to go early monring (8am) or in the afternoon? I'm hoping to avoid massive crowds if at all possible. Thanks for the help and tips.
Hi Chris,
If you want to avoid massive crowds, you may want to book the 8:00 AM reservation on monday. If you get there and head straight for the sistine chapel, you may be one of only a handful of people inside it.
To do this you will need a reservation. If you want to save the 4 Euro reservation fee, go on Monday afternoon a few hours before the museum closes and you should be able to just walk right in without a reservation.
