Are private tours of the Vatican available for the night hours during the summer? Unfortunately I tried to make reservations for evening entry into the Vatican museums but they are booked on the days that I am there. With the heavy summer crowds are the evening hours much less crowded? Any suggestions for private tour companies or guides? If you book through a private tour company do you need to make your own reservations for entrance to the Vatican website or do theocrats care if that?

What date are you trying to book? They only do night visits on Fridays and all Fridays in September are showing availability. Here is the link:

They are much less crowded than during the daytime. You would need to contact the company you wish to book with to see what's included in the cost of the tour. If you book with the official site the entry fee is included.
