Having just returned from Ireland and gone through an effortless VAT process, I am infuriated over the opposite experience last year in Florence. I purchased 770 in leather and was supposed to get about 200 back. I followed all the instructions and have received nothing. I Have copies of the form but there is no contact information for the company. Both M & R and N Tax Free Spa are listed on the form. Is there any way to find this company? If not, do not buy from Moda in Pelle in Florence.

I have received the VAT refund but I have never sent the forms in via mail. I followed Rick's advice and obtained the Customs stamp and collected the refund at the office in the airport before my flight. The company takes a small percentage of the refund amount as a fee but it was worth it to guarantee the refund. I even received the amount in US dollars.

Well that is a bummer. I'm a Rick Steves' junkie and never knew I had that option!!! We were told the only way to get the refund was this way.
