Vasari Corridor (Florence) - Can I visit without a tour guide??

I have been searching online for a way to reserve or buy tickets to see the Vasari Corridor. But all I can find are expensive tour packages. Is it even possible to get a ticket or make a reservation independently??

Many have wondered about this: Rick says the odds are against it, p. 44 of his 2009 book.

Bummer!! I really wanted to see it but I guess that's going to be near impossible. :( Thanks for giving me the info.

If anyone else out there has ideas on how to get in, please let me know please!

If it makes you feel any better, I've heard that it's really not all that interesting, and probably not worth the money. You can console yourself with extra helpings of gelato. :-)

Andrea: Yes, I, too, have wanted to see it, I think it would be interesting--but so far haven't managed to coordinate a tour. It adjoins the Uffizi at the Uffizi's west wing, I think I was able to get a glimpse into the corridor from looking through a window in the Uffizi, or maybe I only remember seeing a photograph. from the west wing. The Corridor was damaged by WW2 bombing, by the catastrophic flood in 1966, and by the terrorist bombing of the Uffizi in 1993. I have wondered whether the lack of tours is related to security concerns.I realize it's not a good substitute to seeing it, but here's some pics: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vasari_Corridor

We were told that visits into the corridor are very limited. We couldn't do it when we were there. Supposedly, there is some great art in the corridor.

Thanks all! Unfortunately we didn't get the info in time for our trip, but hopefully the posted info will help someone else. They did give me this number to call for reservations and to see if it is open: 055.294883
