Vasari corridor

Curious if anyone visited the Vasari Corridor recently? It seems like a cool thing to do . But it appears it can only be accessed via a Private tour in combo with a visit to the Ufizzi and can be pricey.... Is there another option to see the corridor ? And if not.. did those who visited there feel it was worth their time/money.

Thank you

I'm not sure it's even possible to book a tour of the Corridor right now...either with or without a tour of the Uffizi. The Beniculturali website (http://www.uffizi.it/index.php?en/202/vasari-corridor) states that it's closed until further notice although I've seen some other reports which indicate it's open again for limited tours though November. However a further check of some the agencies who provide these tours comes up empty: no ability to book.

As far as I know the corridor is closed since July 11th, after the fire brigade observed that it is dangerous to move groups in a long corridor that basically has no emergency exits and only two accesses, at its beginning and its end.

Before the closure, the new Uffizi manager had the idea of substantially reworking the corridor, taking away the portraits (the most important would be exposed at Uffizi but most would go back to a storehouse) and making a larger section of public visit both Uffizi and and Pitti going through the corridor. But the project could no be finalized due to lack of emergency exits, so this looks to be the most urgent problem to solve.
