Vasari Corridor (Corridoio Vasariano)

Hello travel forum,

I have been researching/planning for our upcoming trip to Italy in September and today focusing on Florence. We are there 4 full days so will likely do things in Florence for 3 of those days and 1 day trip yet to be determined but have had much advice and success at options from my previous posts and from researching on this forum as well as other sites/books. We want to take in the sites I have listed below but also just wander and explore off the beaten path (if there are any ha) and take our time to soak in Florence and not be ticking off a list of must sees...what I have below are desired but if we don’t see them so be it.

I have my Duomo tickets booked and have the Brunelleschi Pass.

  • My question to the forum is about the Vesari Corridor and if it’s worth it? I have not seen anything on the forum that is recent on this. Of course you get some blogs who advise it but they are sponsored so looking for honest travel opinions from people who have no vested interest in promoting tours. The cost is within budget.

  • As well would planning a day that starts early at the Accademia Gallery (prefer to see) then seeing the Uffizi Galleries (prefer to see) later that day possibly on the Friday for the evening tour of the Vasari Corridor. I know the Vasari Corridor tour ends at the Palazzo Pitti emerging into the Boboli Gardens however I feel it would definitely be too much to see Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens on the same day. Also our hotel is near there so easy to get to Boboli Gardens and the Pitti if time permits another day.

As always I appreciate the time anyone takes to read this and answer my questions or provide feedback of any kind. Thanks so much!

KS, the Vasari Corridor is clearly, given feedback from the reopening, not everyone's cuppa. It is largely devoid of artwork to more closely reflect its original appearance as simply a private passageway between Palazzo Vecchio and Palazzo Pitti for Duke Cosimo I de' Medici and family in the 16th century. I've not personally taken it nor would I if it have meant limiting my time in the Uffizi. I especially wouldn't if you've no intention of visiting the Pitti or Boboli on the other end the same day (yes, that would be too much!)

Honestly, you don't need anything more recent than that as not much has changed but you might also reference reviews on Trip Advisor:

Thanks Kate that is very helpful and what I was thinking. I appreciate your advice. Recent research has shown they have added some artwork and Roman Busts however not the same calibre I’m sure as in the Uffizi.

Definitely not. I am confident saying that without even having done it recently. If you were planning on visiting the Pitti at the other end - and not much else- I might feel differently but, oy, the Pitti is a real time-and-energy gobbler all by itself. Accademia+ Uffizi+ Vasari+ Pitti+ Boboli? Having done all but the Vasari personally, I think you'd be exhausted by the time you hit the Pitti... on all fours and begging for a nap.

I was in Rome in April. Top goal was the UG, VC. I bought the combo ticket for UG, PP BG and then added on the corridor.

Other community members have asked the same question and if you are interested in the UG and the Corridor your scheduled time for the corridor is two hours after your entrance to the UG found two hours was not enough you need to make it 3.
I guess you could classify the corridor as a letdown in regards to the fact that it is a long white washed walled corridor but it is the history attached to it and the views from the windows and views that you won't see any other way so for me it was a wow! It was a long time goal for me and every time I came to Rome previously it was closed for various reasons so I was very anxious to take the tour.

Thanks Janet_kupfer, I have looked at that same ticket. Definitely would not do them all the same day and I appreciate that. you were recently there to give your feedback, most I have found was when people visited prior to the addition of the art work.
