Vasari Corridor

Is it worth taking a tour? Do you recommend a tour group?

I believe the only way you can do this is with a tour. I took the tour from artviva. It was only our group in the corridor, no other people, and it's kinda hidden from the public, behind a locked door. I found the tour to be very interesting... Lots of artwork on the walls, lots of details about the history of the place and the Ponte Vecchio bridge that you might not otherwise know. It did seem to go on a bit long, and after major sight seeing for the previous week my feet were hurting pretty bad by this point and there is NOWHERE to rest for a bit. But otherwise I found the tour to be worth my while.

You can only visit the corridor with a group; you can't enter on your own. I took Artviva tour and was not impressed by the quality of the presentation. If Context Florence is doing the corridor when you want to visit, I'd guess they would do a better job of the tour. They would have been my choice, but the timing didn't work. I did enjoy the corridor; historically interesting, some lovely views over the river, and some wonderful and fascinating self-portraits (ie, that's where the Uffizi collection of self portraits resides). One caution: the tour ends at the Pitti Palace end of the corridor and you exit to the street, so you can't go back into the Uffizi (without getting back in the entrance line and buying another ticket). So do your visit to the Uffizi first.
