My friend and I are going to Florence for the first time and it has been suggested we see the Vasari Corridor. I don't really exactly know what this is, but have read some reviews that its disappointing once you see it. Has anyone been there. I heard it costs about 170 Euros. That's a lot of money I don't need to spend and be disappointed. Thanks - Barbara
There's an article describing Vasari Corridor and tour on Slow Travel website. It says price of 2.5 hour tour in 2003 was EUR 25. www.slowtrav.com/tuscantraveler/vassari_corridor.htm
Yes, I've been thru it twice. Depends on your interest in art. First, it is a gallery in the Vasari corridor that leads from the Uffizi to the Pitti Palace, the corridor the Medici used to walk to get to the palace. Most, if not all, of the pictures are portraits mostly of the artists. The tours are only available on certain days of the week and not always open, or at least that was my experience. I had tried for several years before I got in and was lucky at that. They lost my letter and request for a reservation with open dating (we were there for a month) so I got a private tour by the director as a apology. We loved it but it certainly is not for everyone unless you are fairly knowledgeable as an art lover. If you want more information you can email directly. [email protected]
