Hello, We are trying to find accommodations in or near Varenna, on Lake Como in July. We haven't had much luck as were are only able to stay 4-days, and not the required 7-days as most apartments/condo's require. The hotels that we have found do not have the view we wish. Should we really stick to our plan and stay directly in Varenna (as we have no car, and are traveling by train) or go a bit outside of the city, and stay south in Fiumelatte? It looks like it's really not a city, but a collection of apartments/condos. With no restaurants, bar's, nightlife, etc.
