Varenna to Venice

My husband and I will be spending three days in Varenna and then continuing on to Venice. I am aware that we can take a train back to Milan and continue then to Venice. I wondering if anyone has booked a driver from Varenna to Venice. I would appreciate any recommendations.

Christine,

Travel by train from Varenna to Venice is very easy, and will be far quicker than travelling by car. To answer your question, No, I've never booked a driver on that route as that would be FAR above my budget level. If one of the ultra rich was paying the bill, I'd probably hire a helicopter.

For travel by train, you'll first need to take the Regionale from Varenna-Esino to Milano Centrale (1H:03M). Don't forget to validate your ticket prior to boarding the train on the day of travel. You'll then transfer to the high speed Freccia train for the trip from Milano Centrale to Venezia Santa Lucia (it will probably be a FrecciaBianca - 2H:35M- reservations compulsory and those will be provided with the ticket).

we took the train thru Milan.....painless. Know, however, that you need a Euro coin to operate the turn style into the restroom
