We are thinking of a day trip by car from Varenna to St Moritz in early May. Thoughts? Is it worth it or is there another Swiss destination within 2 hours drive of Varenna that would be a better option?

We were told that St-Moritz was not attractive and filled with concrete buildings so stayed in a lovely charming town nearby named Pontresina. We agreed with what we had been told although the views of the lake and mts are beautiful. We drove from Pontresina to Bellagio, using a ferry on the last leg. It would be a long day trip.
