Varenna to Malpensa Bus

Why don't you phone your hotel in Varenna and ask how long the bus ride will take and how to book it in advance.

We took the train from Varenna to the Milan Central train station and then the bus (Malpensa Express) from the train station to the airport (it takes 50 minutes to one hour.) I'm not sure that there is a bus from Varenna to Malpensa (we were there last March so maybe something has changed.) The travel agency in Varenna is I Viaggi del Tivano (www.tivanotours.com) You could e-mail them about bus service and/or train schedules. Depending on the schedule you could probably make it to Malpensa for a noon flight but I'd be inclined to stay in Milan near the train station the last night before your flight.

Hi Suzanne. I posted a question about this recently and researched this myself. I will also be in Varenna the night before my flight out of Malpensa. My flight leaves at 10:30 am so I will need to leave Varenna early too. I learned from the hotel where I'll be staying that there used to be bus service from Varenna to Malpensa but it has been discontinued. So, I will be taking the 5:36 am train from Varenna to Milan Centrale & then the shuttle to Malpensa. Should take about 2 hrs total. The other option that my hotel gave me is to take a taxi which would cost about 150 euro!! No thanks...I will take the train.

Just got an email from Eremo Gaudano hotel which suggested www.flytolake.com which is a private shuttle with good prices.
