Susan, The easiest route is probably to travel back to Milan by train and then to Lucerne from there. I'd probably use the departure at 07:37, arriving in Lucerne at 12:41 (time 5H:04M, two changes at Milano Centrale and Arth-Goldau, reservations compulsory on the second leg). There are later departures with slightly longer travel times. Happy travels!
