Varenna or Bellagio or other

I'm looking for recommendations as to the best location to stay at on Lake Como for 4 nights this June. Also, accommodation recommendations would be appreciated as well. Thanks in advance!

Actually, you are a bit late for June- crazy, isn't it? The area is so beautiful and peaceful. Varenna will be much harder than Bellagio, which is somewhat larger. So availability may determine where you stay. You don't mention who all is in your party, budget, desire for breakfast or an elevator. Not sure if you need AC in June yet.
Research on booking.com but book directly for the best price.
I'll do a Search and attach. Good luck!

Pat, we actually already have an Airbnb booked in Varenna for mid June. I'm just seeing if there are better options. It's just for my wife and me. Budget is around $300-350/night. Breakfast would be nice, but not mandatory. Same for elevators.

I would try and add breakfast. We've stayed in both Bellagio and Varenna and not much opens before 10am or so. Much easier to have breakfast at your hotel.

I think it depends very much on individual preference and what you are looking to do. I loved staying in Varenna because it was very quiet, small and uncommerical feeling while I was there in mid October. It may feel very different when more crowded in June. I also liked Varenna for easy transport from Milan by train,, to the Bernina train from Tirano into Switerland, and by Ferry to Bellagio and other places on Lake Como. I did a daytrip to Bellagio and personally would not be interested in staying there but I know many, many people love it. In contrast to Bellagio, Varenna has no or virtually no night life or shopping, fewer sights to see.

On the question of breakfast, the place I stayed in Varenna provided vochers from a continental type breakfast in a choice of three different cafes in the center of town. All were open early moring and all day; I tried all three, and all were good.
