We will be in Varenna on Lake Como for maybe 5 nights next mid May. I have been exploring lodging options and many indicate they are full. I am thinking they are not booking that far out yet. Any recommendations about waiting until January to book or find a place that shows availability? Thanks for any ideas.

I recently booked lodging at Albergo Milano in Varenna by emailing the hotel directly. You may want to try that.

We enjoyed our stay at Albergo Milano in Varenna last October. We actually stayed in one of their annex apartments, 'Casa Gialla'.
The price of the apartment included a delicious breakfast which was served on the hotel's terrace with a beautiful view
of the lake.

We found Albergo Olivieto very easy on the budget. Nice rooms, lake view, quirky owner, a stone's throw from the train station. :-)
