Varenna Italy Lodging

I will be traveling solo and would like recommendations for lodging in Varenna for September 24-30, 2019.
Thank you!

Check out The Hotel Villa Cipressi. Can walk anywhere in town from there, and the town is located midway of the lake so getting to other places is easy by ferry.

The Villa Cipressi, especially if you can get a lake view, is special. Highly recommend it.

Several years ago we spent four nights in the Hotel Olivedo and found it to be a first rate property. It was extremely clean, the staff was very helpful, and the breakfast was plentiful. Breakfast is served outside overlooking the lake. The owner is not always friendly, but we still liked the place.

It is about 50 meters from the navette (ferry) dock, which makes it handy for any excursions and is close to the train station.

Buon viaggio,

It's been a few years but I've also stayed at Hotel Olivedo and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. It's an older property and a bit "quirky" (a true "back door experience"), but the room was clean and comfortable and that's mainly what I was looking for. As I recall, they don't have an elevator. It's right next to the Ferry dock so very convenient for making day trips to other locations along the lake, but unless you get a room at the back there will be a bit of traffic noise. They served a nice breakfast and I thought the food in the restaurant was good.

FWIW, I got along fine with the owner and found her to be very nice.

I traveled solo to Varenna in May this year & stayed at Hotel Du Lac. It was the best hotel of my Italy trip. The room, front desk staff, breakfast & view were superb. If I ever go back there I will stay there again. I stayed in a balcony room, double bed but single use. Can say nothing bad about it.
