Does anyone know the name of a restaurant that will be open for lunch in Varenna (or Bellagio) on 9 November? We are hoping to celebrate my wife's birthday on Lake Como. Thanks in advance.

Contact albergo olviedo in varenna.
It is a ferry waterside hotel and restaurant location that may work for ubeautiful views and outdoor dining.
Order the pumpkin gnocchi for sure.

Nice idea! You might have difficulty finding some restaurants open in November in this area so be sure to contact them in advance. If you are willing to splurge a bit, try the restaurant at Hotel Villa Cipressi in Varenna: http://www.hotelvillacipressi.it/en/restaurant.html Again, I'm not sure if they are open in November. I had a fantastic meal there a few years ago in July.

Regarding the previous suggestion for Albergo Olivedo, I'm not sure they will be open for lunch in November. You'll have to contact them. Another possibility is Hotel Royal Victoria which is right in the centre of Varenna.
If cost is no object and you want to celebrate your wife's birthday in style, you could also take the short ferry ride (about 20 minutes) from Varenna to Bellagio and have a fine lunch at Grand Hotel Villa Serbelloni. They have several restaurants, including at least one with views of the lake. It won't be an inexpensive lunch, but I'm sure it will be memorable.
If you want something "special" (ie: a small birthday cake), contact the Concierge at the hotel. I'm sure for a "fee" they will be able to arrange whatever you want.

Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. It seems that nothing we can check on is open on Monday which is my wife's birthday. Something may be open for lunch on Tuesday, though. I will check the Bellagio hotel. That sounds promising. If not, we'll find something in Milan where we are staying for a couple of days. Either way, we will still make a day trip to Varenna and Bellagio. Thanks, again.
