Varenna hotels

Hi everyone. My wife and I are planning on staying in Varenna for 5 nights at the end of September. I'm having trouble finding availability during that time and considering a privite room or apartment. Has anyone used these and what are your experiences. Are there ones that you would recommend. Thanks

We stayed in a small BnB type place found on booking.com

We stayed in Varenna because we thought Bellagio would be too snooty for us. Varenna was nice with a fair amount of area to explore, but we also liked Bellagio very much. The folks we met in the restaurants and the enoteca were very gracious. Bellagio could be more expensive than Varenna, I'm not sure. You might give Bellagio a look.

Varrena is small and has become very popular, but that being said some places may not be have opened bookings yet. The lakes region has very defined seasons so until the new year starts to approach opening they may not be listing days yet. You can search previous threads about people having difficulty trying to book a year ahead.

We stayed at one of the apartments listed by Albergo Milano which also has a hotel and restaurant.

Keep checking but you also might check out Bellagio and Menaggio as alternatives connected by the midlake ferry since they both probably have more rooms.

Good luck!

Thanks for replying. I'm hoping that is the case that it's to soon. Because Varenna is small I was hoping to lock this in early. I will keep checking.

I’m surprised at how expensive the Airbnb’s are per night in Varenna! Maybe something near by is less expensive.

We are waiting for Hotel Du Lac to open up reservations in January; the hotel itself will reopen in April, 2025.. There's been an ownership change and renovations. They said they would contact me. ( I do have a back up reservation elsewhere .) And, the new name is Casa du Lac.
Good luck!

Which hotels have you tried so far? It's possible that at least some of them aren't taking reservations yet?

Alberto Milan is taking reservations, and DaVini Vita B&B. Both have great views. The latter is above a restaurant, so has the potential of noise on the weekends, especially. Good luck!
