Does anyone have a favorite hotel in Varenna? We tried the Hotel du Lac but they are sold out for our dates in April. Grazie

Janet, Here's a few of the Hotels in Varenna that you can check..... > Albergo Milano (a big favourite with many here) > Hotel Royal Victoria (right in the main Piazza, very comfortable) > Hotel Villa Cipressi (an elegant old mansion) > Albergo Olivedo (an older hotel close to the Ferry dock, but I've found it to be very comfortable) > Eremo Gaudio (up on the side of the hill - a bit harder to get to but incredible views once you're there) Happy travels!

We loved Albergo Milano however I would venture to guess that they're probably already sold out for this coming April. It's a wonderful place if they have a vacancy.

We really loved the Eremo Gaudio, excellent views of the lake. It is about a 10 minute walk to get there from Varenna the last bit is steep but no real problem if you are in reasonable shape. We walked there from the train station and it took about 20 minutes. You can also get a cab at the station as well.

Another vote for Albergo Milano. They may be sold out but you can check availability on booking.com, and then email the hotel to ask for a reservation. It's worth a try!
