Varenna Dinner Plans - Enoteca Cava Turacciolo or Quatro Pass?

Hi everyone! I may be being a bit too finicky but I’m having trouble picking a place for our full night in Varenna. (The other day we are visiting another town and probably do not have time for dinner near Varenna.)

We are arriving early in Milan, then driving to Varenna. I originally wanted to take a ferry from Varenna to Bellagio, do a wine tasting at Enoteca Cava Turacciolo, then hop the ferry back for dinner at Osteria Quatro Pass. However, my husband thinks I’m being over ambitious :) and that it will be way too tiring to do all that on our first day. So I’m trying to figure out which would be nicer. I know the wine tasting would probably be more of a light dinner, like charcuterie.

Thanks for your help if you’ve been to either/both.

Are you staying in Varenna that night or driving back to Milan? Either way, I don't think your plan is too ambitious. We stayed in Varenna for four nights in September and would take the ferry over to other towns during the day and then have dinner in Varenna each night. We went to Quattro Pass upon a recommendation, but I have to say we weren't blown away by the meal. Of our four nights, we ate at Il Cavatappi twice - it was phenomenal! I'd recommend that restaurant over Quattro Pass.

Is this for a first day in Italy after an overnight flight? If so, it all depends on your style of travel. I like to keep moving when I travel, especially on the first day. Some people though need to take it easy.
