Vaporetto tickets

This will be our 6th trip to this amazing city and the Vaporetto tickets along with Museum passes etc.
have certainly changed since our first visit in 2006. There will be 4 of us. I have spent the last 1.5 hours reading and trying to determine the best (and yes most economical) way to get around.
We will only need individual return bus tickets and just single vaporetto tickets to the hotel.
On our final day we plan to go to Murano and will get a 1 day travel card.
What I have been unable to determine, is - if we opt for just a 1 day travel card does this allow us a 24hr. period of time
after activation to use the card.
For example if we activate the card at 9am Thursday is it good until 9am on Friday.
Appreciate it if you can answer this question.

Yes the vaporetto tickets are a true 24 hour ticket

Be sure to validate each and every time you board

I strongly recommend getting a length of stay pass, you’ll get your money’s worth out of it

Agree you should get multi day pass. It was so nice to just hop on and off as we felt like it during our stay

Really, it depends on how many days you plan to be spending in Venice. the longer you stay (up to 7 days) the lower the per day cost of the pass.

Two 90 minute bus+boat tickets will cost 28 EUR plus 20 EUR for a 24-hour pass. 48 EUR total. Or one 90 minute boat+boat ticket for 14 EUR, plus 20 EUR for a 24 hour pass, plus 8 EUR for a 1-way bus to the airport, 42 EUR total. If you were only going to be there for 72 hours from the time you validate and board the bus at the airport to when you get off the bus at the airport. That pass would cost 42 EUR.

If you were going to be there a whole week, a 7-day pass with round trip airport bus would be 72 EUR, so for only an extra 30 EUR, you would have unlimited vaporetto rides while there. That could be very convenient.

Just a thought about the airport bus thing. If you buy a pass, and buy the airport add on, I think you have tobtravel tobthe airport within the time validity of the pass.

Also, there are two bus lines doing Marco Polo to Venice P. Roma.

ACTV, which is a commuter type bus, you take your luggage on board with you, and the bus makes several stops.
ATVO, which is like a tour coach, your luggage goes under the floor, and the bus runs express.
ATVO is way more comfortable, and I have seen reports of pickpockets working the ACTV buses.
Fares are identical, about 8 euro.
