We will be in Venice 2 full days this summer and want to get 48 hour vaporetto passes.
1) Where is the best place to purchase them? (We will be staying very close to the train station)
2) Should I buy them in advance to save some money?
3) When does the clock start ticking on the 48 hours - when I buy them or when I first use them?
4) Any other specific things I should know?

There are kiosks inside and outside the station
I don’t think there are any discounts
48 hours begins at first use
It is a true 48 hours so first use 10 am good til 10 am 2 days later
Be sure to validate each and every time you board
Very high fines if you forget and they do check
How and where do you validate?
There will be a validation machine on each dock
Just tap/ swipe your pass
