Vaporetto pass or Alilaguna boat

Several years ago one could buy a Vaporetto pass at the airport but they only accepted cash no credit cards. Does anyone know if this is still the case? Also, has anyone had experience with the Alilaguna boat from the airport to the Rialto area? Many thanks, TC

We got a vaporetto pass online before we went, so didn't try at the airportwe were going to Verona first anyway. I can't remember the site, but googling vaporetto will probably lead you to it. When we finally arrived in Venice on the train we just went to the vaporetto stop to the right of the station (as you face the Grand Canal) and they converted my computer printout into a pass.

You can buy discounted vaporetto passes on line at www.veniceconnected.com. You choose how many hours or days you want and whether you want to include the ACTV bus from the airport to Venice. When we bought ours last year the bus was included. You pick it up right outside the airport and it takes you to Piazzale Roma where you take the vaporreto to your stop. We found it very convenient and a great buy compared to buying on arrival.
