Used it on my two visits to Venice. Worth it.

They are great if you plan on using them, we used them the whole time traveling to murano and burano and just up and down the canal got our monies worth, we are going back in October and will use them again. On the other hand if you don't plan on moving off the main island a lot and just do a lot of walking it may not justify the cost.

I found the pass to be worth every penny.

Here is the math. Currently a 72 hour pass costs 33 euro full price, possible discount buying through www.veniceconnected.com. A single ride costs 6.50 euro. 5 single rides in 3 days and you have the cost of an unlimited pass. The pass is nice to have, vaporettos make it easy to get around. Even if you walk a lot, it is nice to jump on the vaporetto and get back to your start.

The passes were great. Gave me and esp. the teenagers the freedom to go where we wished. Wouldn't consider being without them on a future trip.

I agree. Buy the passes, and keep them with you at all times. It's fun to hop off the vaparetto at random, and discover interesting places you never would have seen otherwise.

You'll be pleasantly suprised by how much you can use the vaporetto to hop from spot to spot. I always get the pass, and feel that I save a lot of time and money by doing so. The pass also covers vaporetto to Murano, Burano and Torcello. Note that the 3-day pass expires 72 hours from time of initial validation, so if timing is right it may cover the trip back to the train station on your day of departure.
