Vaporetto pass availability with the #5 bus

We will be in Venice this June for 5 days (3 full days and 2 half days) arriving from Marco Polo airport. We will be staying across from S.S. Giovanni E Paolo. I understand from Rick's book that the #5 ACTV bus is included with the vaporetti pass (I have also read somewhere else that it is an additional 3 euro). If this is true, I believe this would be our best value as it would eliminate the need for additional transportation from the airport into Venice and would eliminate the need to buy individual vaporetti tickets on the day we leave. We are leaving Venice from Santa Lucia station. I understand that there is a Hello Venezia desk within the airport where we can buy passes before taking the bus. Can anyone confirm this? Any thoughts or comments are appreciated.

Hi Jeanine,
Try the Hello Venezia website and http://www.veneziaunica.it/en for ticket details and costs.
I prefer to travel into Venice from the airport by boat as although it is dearer than the bus it is a lovely trip down the Grand Canal and a great introduction to Venice.
Last year I bought tickets on line for the airport transfer and our vaporetti passes and we picked the tickets up once we arrived. It was easy and there was a reduced price advance purchase option, not sure if that still exists. We bought vaporetti dell'arte passes which were dearer but meant we could use the hop-on hop-off vaporeti as well as the regular boats.
Hope that you have a lovely visit
Helen
