Vaporetto Pass

Could you tell me if there is any benefit to getting a vaporetto pass online vs. just getting it while in Venice?

No benefit to getting it online, you can buy it at the train station or outside the station before you get on the first vaporetto.

We have done it both ways. The first time we flew into Venice and bought the pass on line and picked it up at the airport so we could use it to get into Venice but we still had to stop at an info window to pick up our passes. At the time we didn't know if we could buy the pass at the airport. The second time we arrived by train and bought the pass as we left the station. There was no benefit to buying the pass online.

Helene,

Just to echo Zoe, you can easily buy the vaporetto pass right outside of the train station.

When you walk out of the train station, you will experience a magnificent view of the Church of San Simeone Piccolo across the Grand Canal.

Go down the stairs & you will see a whitish portable on the left side-- this is where you can buy the vaporetto pass(es).

Here is a good website to help you decide which pass you may want to purchase depending on how long you will be in Venice:

Have a wonderful trip!

If you're flying into Marco Polo airport, you can buy the vaporetto pass at the airport along with a discounted bus ticket to take you to Piazzale Rome, next to the train station in Venice. There's a ticket window at the airport near the main exit, with several people staffing it. The line moves quickly.
