Can you still purchase Vaporetti passes at the kiosk in Piazzale Roma?
I would not want to order online as I had a very bad experience in 2018 trying to redeem the
printout for actual passes.
Yes, among many other places. I got mine at the airport along with a slightly discounted bus ticket to Piazzale Roma. Pretty sure I paid by credit card. No reason to order one online. Here's more info.
Is that current information, Dick?
I would have given similar answer but it would have been based on pre-covid knowledge.
The link I posted, to "Venice for Visitors," is current. So is this link to the official Venice tourism website. Maybe they're not selling vaporetto passes at Piazzale Roma any more, but I don't know why they wouldn't be. Nigel is very knowledgeable about Venice so I'm sure he will share any more current info he may have.
I don't have any post-covid information about which desks will sell the tickets. That's why I asked.
P. Roma is Grand Central Station for the vap system. There will be an attended booth there.
We were in Venice two weeks ago, and the ticket windows outside the train station were open and selling tickets. We bought a 48 pass for our two nights and more than broke even.
By the way, Venice was awesome without crowds. Piazza San Marco was empty at noon.
good to hear Karen...
Were they in the white sheds between the station (if you saw) or the blue and colour sheds at the docks?
