Vaping in Europe

I just got a very cool Vaping system to try and get off the cigs. It is using a Nicotine only "oil." if that is the right word. Wondering if anyone has had problems with Customs or in other counties; Italy foremost, with Vaporizing systems.

Don't know about the customs end, but a lot of people in Europe do vape.

You can't spit without hitting a vape shop in Europe these days, so use your concern about clearing Customs as a reason to buy a new rig while you're there. My guess is that what counts as 'very cool' here will be old news when you get a look at their goods.

Vaping has been around in Europe for a quite long time...saw it for the first time on a Swissair flight from Zurich to Paris around 2007. No one there will give it a second thought.

Saw lots of people sucking on those things in Paris last month. Now that I think about it, I wish all the smokers there would switch to them.

I find them just as annoying as tobacco smoke. Just saying.

I agree with Zoe. I don't want to be around smoking of any kind.

And I've been seeing articles recently that say that vaping is just as addictive as smoking, that it is just another nicotine delivery device, that it is a way to get people addicted to nicotine and that it does nothing to help people defeat their addiction.

Am I wrong? I hate the smell of the cigarette smoke. If someone's vaping, does it affect anyone else?

yes it does. It affects me.

Incidentally, there has been a study in England that (forget the exact details but I'm close) nearly 40% of small children who do not smoke have been enticed by the advertising of vaping and many of them are now addicted.

It seems like such a great product for cigarette addicts who want to be a bit healthier but it has had huge other consequences.

My work area which has been smoke free for quite a while has now got several people who vape next to me and I absolutely hate it. The company never envisioned vaping when it made its rules and the vapists say it isn't prohibited so they go ahead.

If it looks like smoke, it's smoking.

Actually, it's water vapor, not smoke.

I don't smoke or vape, but I'd rather be around 1000 people vaping than one smoker.

I'm not saying it's healthy, and I'm not saying it should be legal everywhere, but the water vapor is not a nuisance. Smoke is a definite nuisance, or worse.

There was a guy trying to hide his vaping during an overnight international flight last summer sitting across the isle from us. What got my attention was that I could smell it. After an hour or so I went to an attendant at the back of the plane and asked the attendant if this type of "smoking" was allowed on flights. She said no, spoke to the guy, but he continued. The Lufthansa staff didn't do anything more to stop it. I must say that this guy was also obnoxiously, loudly drunk and they never cut off his alcohol. He even got people around him to break out their duty free alcohol! Long story short, I wrote my 1st ever complaint to an airline and got a minimal voucher for a future flight. My worst night ever on a flight.

yes, "vaping" is not smoke and nothing is burning. And it has NO odor. some people are just paranoid.

Sorry, I've been around scented vape users and it's not pleasant. If the point of it is to wean oneself away from smoking, why expect to do it where smoking is not permitted?

Paranoia or civility?

Vaping odors are obvious to me indoors, and often still detectable outdoors if I am walking behind a vaper.
People vaping on mass transit think they can do so undetected if they want to be undetected but they are fooling only themselves.
It makes me wonder if smokers have more going on than just psychological denial, but actual degrading of their senses as well.
