Vaperetto Tickets

How do you use AVM Venezia app to purchase tickets for the public boat in Venice? more specifically during our three days here we will be traveling back-and-forth the city and then we will need to go to Marano and Verano and then also back to the airport.

If you purchase the vaporetto pass in advance (can't remember the time frame) you can get a discount. You still need to pick up the pass at the train station

Vaporetto passes can be picked up at many locations, not just the train station. We bought ours in advance (through the Venezia Unica site) and picked up at the kiosks near the Piazzale Roma docks. There are many pick up locations. When you purchase, you get a booking code. You enter the code at the kiosks and it prints out your tickets.

The vaporetto will take you to Murano and Burano. To get to/from the airport, you can take the bus to Piazzale Roma (additional cost), then the Vaporetto. Or you can take the water bus from the airport (Aliliguna, additional cost).

This is why folks are recommending a pass:

Single ride on vaporetto: €9.50
24-hour pass: €25
48-hour pass: €35
72-hour pass: €45
168-hour (7-day) pass: €65

It takes 3 tickets to go to Murano and Burano on the same day.

In addition, when you buy the pass you can add a one way ticket for the airport bus to/from Piazzale Roma for 7 EUR or 13 EUR for a round trip. The bus is normally 10 EUR each way.

I don't believe there are any advance purchase discounts anymore, but I could be wrong.

We were in Venice September of 2024. We purchased our vaporetto pass in advance for a 5 euro discount. If Sam says this discount has been eliminated, I'd be inclined to agree with him. That said, you really want to buy a pass because the single trip tickets really add up.

We used the pass to visit Murano, Burano and Torcello, as well as to do the Vaporetto Rick Steves audiotour (Grand Canal Cruise). (Try to be outside, either in the back or the front of the vaperetto. We actually did the "cruise" several times.
