Does anyone know the time of the earliest Vaparetto in Venice. We have to meet a tour at 8:30am at St. Marks Square. We are staying near St. Lucia train station. Thank you, Doreen

The No 1 boat starts regular service around 5 am as commuters pour into Venice to get to work. Every 20 minutes until 6:20 am, then then every 12 minutes until late evening. Before 5 am, there is the Night Boat that runs that route all night.

Vaparetti start running around 5:00 to 5:30am depending on the line so 8:30 shouldn't be a problem. As you would expect a number of lines run from the train station FERROVIA stops to SAN MARCO. Lines 1, 2, 5.1 and 5.2 all make this part of the journey.

There are a couple of vaparetti transmit apps and even Google maps transit does a pretty good job of schedules and routes for vaparetto planning.
Also S. ZACCARIA is just past S. MARCO in front of the Dodge's Palace and will work for getting to SM with a couple extra minutes to walk over a bridge or two.
