Six of us will be traveling for 3 days from Venice to Rome, via Sienna, and would like to rent a van to accomodate us all. They seem to be pretty scarce and very expensive...3 - 4 times the cost of a small car. It might make sense to rent 2 small cars. Any suggestions?

We're going the opposite, Rome to Venice and we have a small wagon (Focus) for 35 euros a day from Hertz.
They were the best rate we found.

Ron renting 2 cars would probably be a better option. Easier to park, easier to navigate on small roads, streets and especially parking lots. Pat - a Ford Focus wagon won't fit 6 people, only 5.

Ron, I knew the Focus was a small car, and thought you would two. Like the saying goes, "take two, they're small"
I rented a small wagon back in 2004 for our first trip to Italy and they were out of them. They upgraded us to a minivan at no additional cost. It was a diesel stickshift and was a fun ride for a week.
