Valley of the Temples by bus from Agrigento: Line 1 vs Line 2/

Hi everyone, I’m visiting Agrigento in June and trying to get to the Valley of the Temples using local buses.

From what I can tell, I have two main options:

  • Line 1: runs about every 30 minutes and stops at “Valle dei Templi,” near the Porta V (western entrance).
  • Line 2/: runs about every 70 minutes and stops at Porta Giunone (eastern entrance).

For those who’ve done this recently, which option would you choose and why? Is one generally easier or more reliable depending on time of day or crowds?

Thanks in advance.

It seems more downhill from the eastern entrance, so why not enter there and leave from the western entrance so you don't have to backtrack uphill? You'll see the "best" temples first when it's less crowded. Final Bonus: you're gonna be hot and tired so waiting for the q30 minute bus arrivals sounds better to me.

Don't miss the gardens; perfect during the hot part of the day.
