Valleta, Malta day trip from Sicily

My wife & I are driving around Sicily for a few weeks next month. Considering taking a ferry to Malta and visiting for a half day. Good idea? Suggestions?

I've never taken the ferry, but I love Valletta. I'd say go for it. The ferry from Pozzallo at the southeastern tip of Sicily takes 90 minutes, so doable for a day trip. Check out the Virtu Ferries website for timetables. EDIT: I looked at the Virtu Ferries site, and the options for day-trips from Pozzallo are rather limited. It looks like it's only possible on Wed. and Fri. in the autumn months. You arrive at 10:45 am and leave again at 4:30 pm. So not much time at all, however, Valletta is a very small city, and you can have a good tour of the place in five hours. For me the one can't-miss sight is the gorgeous St. John's Co-Cathedal. Good luck!
