You can check train times and prices on the Trenitalia website. Be sure to use Italian place names eg: Venezia S. Lucia

https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html

It's too early for most trains to be listed for August, but there are a few for that date. You can look at what's available a couple of weeks from now to see what will be available when the full schedule is released.

For the train, a tour, or both?

Never been in Valdobbiadene, but it looks like a place better suited for a car trip. The railway station is not in Valdobbiadene but in Fener, on the other side of river Piave. The centre of Valdobbiadene is two miles from the railway station.
At present the railway line Montebelluna-Feltre is closed for maintenance works and service is by bus, it should open again in June but better check in a couple months.

The town of Valdobbiadene has no real attractions beyond Prosecco related activity. I suggest you explore the town with Google StreetView to see if it's what you want. If you are interested in the Prosecco wineries and vineyards you would definitely need a car or private driver.

hey hey bluechip
just curious, have you found a tour driver for this trip or renting a car? is this where you have family/ancestors that you want to explore? train ride is over 3 hours. would not know cost without an itinerary.
have someone in mind from that area that does private tours, with six of you splitting the coast would be worth it. you would need to email her with your info and what she can offer you and then it's your decision. she was born & raised and still lives there
we (4 of us) hired her few years back for a prosecco tour and touring the gorgeous views, small villages, stopping for lunch at a small family owned trattoria.
if interested i will send her email/website to you. happy traveling
